Telling a story through costume.
Over the past 7 years I grew a passion for textile arts such as knitting, crocheting and recently tablet weaving. I started combining these with another hobby, cosplay. I discovered a way to combine storytelling with craftsmanship, and have been experimenting with it ever since.
Eurus
Inspired by Eurus from the Oh Hello's EP-Series: "The Four Winds". A personification of autumn. Themes of harvest, warm colours, grain and migrating birds.
I handknit a feathered collar designed by Alice Starmore, with custom colour choices.
Reworked and crocheted a vintage doily pattern as a skirt.
Rapunzel (The Series)
Cosplay project based on Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure mainly using second hand materials. Handmade corset, skirts and hairpin with a styled wig. To translate the digital design to real life I added textured fabrics by using thrifted tablecloths and changed the top to a corset to add visual interest.
Vax'ildan
Work in progress.
A character from Critical Role Vox Machina.
He is champion of the Raven Queen, so I am referencing ravens and feathers wherever I can.
After being left with a lot of yarn I made an inkle loom to learn tablet weaving. A very old technique of weaving bands. Lastly the main garment will be inspired by a gambeson, a medieval padded defensive jacket.
